Wolfsburg have officially confirmed the signing of German World Cup winner Julian Draxler from domestic rivals Schalke.
Although Wolfsburg kept the details of the transfer undisclosed, it is believed the DFB-Cup holders coughed up a fee in the region of £25m to secure the transfer.
The 21-year-old will be a direct replacement for the departed Kevin De Bruyne, who sealed his move to England with Manchester City earlier this week.
Draxler has expressed his delight at joining the Wolves and underlined his desire to play at the highest level and compete for titles at his new club.
“VfL Wolfsburg is a new challenge for me,” said the midfielder to his new club’s official website.
“I want to continue playing football at the very top level. VfL offers exceptional prospects and an extremely strong team.
“I am looking forward to the Champions League with VfL and I want to be playing for titles here in the coming years,” he added.
Wolfsburg coach Dieter Hecking has also been effusive in his praise for the German international, and also talked up his versatility and the experience he will bring into the side.
“Julian is a guy who can basically be used in all attacking positions and will make our game even more varied.
“He fits perfectly into our score of requirement and our style of play. In spite of his age, he also brings a good deal of experience to the team,” said Hecking.
Draxler has made over a hundred Bundesliga appearances in his career and scored 15 goals. He won the DFB-Cup with Schalke in 2011, and was part of the Germany team that won the World Cup last summer.

Having featured 29 times, he has been the second choice keeper at the club. Impressive display from David de Gea over the years forced him to sit on the bench, playing second fiddle to the Spain international.
However, De Gea is also set for Old Trafford exit as he is close to completing a move to Real Madrid. The deal could see United get their keeper Keylor Navas move to England, who could replace the Spaniard as the new No 1. The situation will force Sergio Romero become the second choice keeper at United.
Lindegaard will join former United players Darren Fletcher, goalkeeper Ben Amos and defender Jonny Evans at the Hawthorns.

Manager ready to allow Tottenham superstar to complete Manchester United move - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
France national team manager Didier Deschamps has already allowed Anthony Martial to complete his move to Manchester United, and he is ready to let Tottenham Hotspur goal keeper Hugo Lloris go as well to complete his move.
Speaking to RTL (via GFFN) France boss Didier Deschamps had the following to say:
“I have seen Lloris’s name linked with Manchester. He is here but between today and tomorrow others could leave us temporarily.”
Lloris has been repeatedly linked with a move to Manchester United throughout the summer, and with David de Gea appears to be heading towards Real Madrid, there is a high chance that United could lodge a late bid for the French goal keeper.
According to reports from Spain, Real Madrid have agreed a preliminary contract with Manchester United over the signing of De Gea. The Red Devils are also ready to sell Victor Valdes to French club Marseille. Also, the club’s third choice goal keeper Anders Lindegaard is close to joining West Brom before the deadline day.
United will be looking to sign a new goal keeper, in fact, they must have a back up plan, as they’ve now agreed to sell De Gea. So, all things point to one direction – Hugo Lloris off to Manchester United?
