Video: This Is How Chelsea Attract Sponsors - originally posted on Soccerlens.com

Earlier this year, Chelsea secured a new, lucrative sponsorship deal with Japanese tyre firm Yokohama Rubber. The deal meant the departure of the famous “SAMSUNG” logo from the Chelsea shirts from the 2015/16 season, and also a sizeable increase of revenue from the Samsung deal.

But how did Chelsea manage to woo prospective sponsors to part with quarter billion pounds to have their name printed across the front of the players’ shirts? The above video has the answers to the question, as the process was perfect to the very last and minutest detail, with Yokohama Rubber emerging as the Blues’ new shirt sponsors at the end of it.

The process started with the club sending blue cases to 33 top CEOs across the world, which included those of Microsoft, Gillette, Beko, Gazprom, Turkish Airlines, Lenovo, LG, AXA, Toyota, P&G, SAP among others. The Chelsea blue cases sent contained a personalized shirt and a personalized Premier League winners’ medal.

The cases also carried a point of view film which gave the 33 prospective Chelsea sponsors a glimpse of the future as Chelsea’s sponsors. Every detail of the film was meticulously personalized; the CEOs’ signatures on the contracts, their portraits on the wall and even their company logo on the Chelsea shirts throughout the stadium and across the world.

The point of view video also contained a glimpse of how the emotions of football are not confined only to the walls of the stadiums, showing how Chelsea are a global brand with reach across different corners of the world, and how being part of the institution is far greater than merely a business initiative.

Every single company replied to the cases, sparking a bidding war which was ultimately won by Yokohama Rubber. The Japanese firm were announced as the club’s shirt sponsors on the 26th of February in a deal worth £40m per year, the second biggest deal in English football after Manchester United’s £53m per year deal with Chevrolet.

Being one of the biggest clubs in the world, it was surprising Chelsea went to such great lengths to attract their new shirt sponsors. But it was professionalism at its best from the reigning Premier League champions, although the new sponsors have had to endure a season of plenty negativity thus far.

Two Arsenal Players in Top 10, Manchester United star feature in top 20 - originally posted on Soccerlens.com

Jamie Vardy still holds the top spot in the EA Sports Player Performance Index rankings after Week 14 of the Premier League.

The Leicester City striker scored against Manchester United on Saturday to become the first ever player to have scored in 11 consecutive games.

Romelu Lukaku has been in outstanding form this season, scoring five goals in his last four games, and the Everton striker has jumped to 2nd position in the player rankings table. His fellow teammate Ross Barkley lies in 5th, behind Tottenham’s Harry Kane.

Liverpool’s attacking midfielder Philippe Coutinho has been in imperious form this season as well. The Brazilian was rested against Swansea City on Sunday, but he still maintains the #9 position in the Premier League rankings.

Alexis Sanchez provided an assist for Mesut Ozil against Norwich City on Sunday, but Arsenal were beaten 2-1 at Carrow Road.

Both Ozil and Sanchez finds themselves in #6 and #7 positions respectively, but how long the Chilean can maintain the position remains to be seen. The Arsenal forward has suffered a hamstring blow and could miss out on actions for 2-3 weeks.

Juan Mata dropped two places down to 14th but remains only the sole candidate for Manchester United within top #20 EA sports rankings.

Transfer Lens: Arsenal in talks to sign €15m Liverpool target, Herrera crunch talks

Transfer Lens: Arsenal in talks to sign €15m Liverpool target, Herrera crunch talks - originally posted on Soccerlens.com

Ander Herrera is gradually getting disillusioned with life at Manchester United. The Spain midfielder, who joined United for a reported £29m, has struggled to get regular games under Louis van Gaal, and according to reports, the Basque midfielder is seeking “showdown talks” over his future at the club.

Daily Star, not always reliable with their info, notes that “Ander is worried about his lack of progress at Manchester United under Louis van Gaal. He feels like he’s lost his identity as a player and doesn’t know what his role is anymore.

“His situation appears to be getting worse and he’s worried his career is going backwards, so there will have to be a chat with the manager.”

Herrera is loved by the United fans, and this potential rift with LvG has come at a crucial time for United. While United have been doing well in the Premier League and in Europe, result wise, the fans aren’t happy with the dull tactics deployed by the manager.

In contract, Herrera is one of those few players, who injects pace and creativity into the side, but surprisingly he is often being ignored by the Dutchman.

For a player of his talent, making 32 appearances for the Red Devils since joining the club in 2014 indeed is a big issue for the Spaniard to neglect. With Euros looming next summer, all Herrera needs is to play regularly to book a ticket to France.

Who will sign Alexandre Pato – Arsenal or Liverpool?

Both Arsenal and Liverpool are reportedly in talks to sign Alexandre Pato. The Gunners are probably leading the race as Corinthians Sporting director Edu confirmed last week (via SportWitness) he had chats with Arsene Wenger over a possible transfer.

The Brazilian forward is keen to return to a big European club either in January or next summer, and he would cost around €15m.

29 goals in 19 apps: Chelsea plot move to sign €100m Man Utd target - originally posted on Soccerlens.com

Diego Costa once again grabbed the headlines for wrong reasons. The Spain striker looked sulky during Chelsea’s encounter with Tottenham and vented his frustration by throwing his bib towards Jose Mourinho.

While Mourinho was quick to diffuse the growing tensions between the pair, it is becoming increasingly evident that Costa is seen no longer an irreplaceable figure at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are actively looking to sign his replacement, and are tracking several forwards for either January or next summer.

According to reports from the Mirror, Chelsea are plotting a move to sign Thomas Muller from Bayern Munich.

Muller, who has scored 29 goals in all competitions this season, has been a long term target of Manchester United. The Red Devils tried to sign the German forward in the summer, and had a reported €100m bid rejected

It can be fairly assumed that Chelsea need to submit a ridiculous bid to prise him away from the Allianz Arena. Bayern are determined to keep Muller at the club, while the player himself hasn’t shown any desire to leave the German club anytime soon.

Vardy, Barkley feature in EPL Team of the Week

♠ Posted by Unknown in ,

Vardy, Barkley feature in EPL Team of the Week - originally posted on Soccerlens.com

The Premier League witnessed a great weekend of action where some records were broken, and some brilliant goals scored. Here is our team of week.

Goalkeeper: Costel Pantilimon (Sunderland)

It was a big win for the Black Cats and they see themselves moved out of the relegation zone. Of course, there is plenty of time for more twists and turns but Big Sam will be happy with what he saw against Stoke City and Pantilimon played a big part in the side’s second consecutive win with an assured goalkeeping performance, especially that one big save from Jonathan Walters when the game was still at 0-0.

Right back: Adam Smith (Bournemouth)

Bournemouth needed a point, and they somehow got that against Everton in a cracker of a match. It was an inspired substitution by manager Eddie Howe and Smith played a crucial part in getting the Cherries a point from the game. He scored a peach of a goal and also won the ball in the middle of the park, which led to Junior Stanislas’s equaliser.

Central defender: Toby Alderweireld (Tottenham Hotspur)

Another commanding performance from the Spurs man, who is increasingly proving to be an early contender for the signing of the season tag.

Central defender: Chris Smalling (Manchester United)

smalling-vardy

Smalling seems to be in the prime of his form and once again, had a good game against Leicester. He almost single-handedly, ensured Jamie Vardy was kept from adding to his record-breaking tally.

Left back: Patrick van Aanholt (Sunderland)

The Dutchman scored got on the scoresheet for his side and also kept the Stoke attackers at bay. Allardyce’s switch to a 3-5-2 formation has suited definitely suited the former Chelsea player as his attacking instincts don’t leave the defence unprotected.

Midfielder: James McArthur (Crystal Palace)

The Palace midfielder enjoyed an outstanding day against struggling Newcastle United. All season, the “all-action midfielder” has been quietly going about his job and against Newcastle, he enjoyed perhaps his best game this season, as he scored a brace in Palace’s 5-1 win.

Midfielder: Junior Stanislas (Bournemouth)

CVDyddPWcAAWxtf

It might only have been a point, but with results not going the side’s way, it wasn’t surprising to see the fans celebrate this draw felt like their side won a cup final. Stanislas struck twice, including the dramatic 97th minute equalizer. This draw and the fashion it came in might give the Cherries hope for their survival

Midfielder: Kevin de Bruyne (Manchester City)

After a humiliating 1-4 loss to Liverpool last weekend and another loss to Juventus mid-week, Manchester City desperately needed a win against Southampton. Kevin de Bruyne ensured his side got that as he scored one and set up the other two goals.

Midfielder: Ross Barkley (Everton)

Ross+Barkley+Everton+v+FC+Porto+mplQ2xqkbk9l

The Evertonian scored, what everyone thought was the winner, and assisted another goal in Everton’s 3-3 draw against Bournemouth. Barkey put on a performance that shows just why he has been rated so highly for so long. The 21-year-old has improved his end product massively and has 6 goals and 5 assists to his name this season.

Forward: Odion Ighalo (Watford)

Perhaps not much has been spoken about newly promoted Watford who sit in a very respectable 11th position in the table. Goals are necessary for survival – something Bournemouth seem to be lacking at the moment – and Ighalo has ensured Watford don’t feel the dearth of goals. An FPL favorite, Ighalo scored as well as assisted a goal as Watford registered a win against struggling Aston Villa.

Forward: Jamie Vardy (Leicester City)

The 28-year-old did what no one could have imagined when the season started. Forget beating a record, just scoring in 11 consecutive matches is an extraordinary achievement. And then of course, beating the record held by Ruud van Nistelrooy must have also been sweeter since it came against Manchester United. It’s proving to be one hell of a season for the side sitting in second position in the league.

La Liga Week 13: Major Talking Points

Barca – The juggernaut rolls on

Barcelona ended the month of November with five wins out of five, but nothing would have pleased Luis Enrique than seeing Lionel Messi returning to full fitness and the MSN trio firing all cylinders again. Neymar probably has been playing the best football of his life, as the Brazilian currently leading the goal-scoring chart with 14 goals to his name. Not far behind is his teammate Luis Suarez, who has scored 12 goals so far in the La Liga. Messi, drafted into the starting line-up in the league for the first time since returning from injury, etched his name on his scoresheet against Real Sociedad in his 600th career appearances. With Barcelona leading by four and six points from Atletico and Real Madrid respectively, things can only get better for them, when Arda Turan joins the squad in January.

Madrid press aren’t happy with Benitez

For the best part of October and early November, Madrid press devoted their time speculating why Ronaldo is not happy at Madrid. Is he getting bored with Rafael Benitez’s defensive tactics? Is he angling a move elsewhere – a possible return to Manchester United? Is he unhappy with his teammates, and especially with the record signing Gareth Bale?

Like a Phoenix rising from the ashes, Ronaldo seems to have woken from the slumber and regained his old mojo back. The Portuguese scored twice against Shakhtar in the Champions League (assist from Bale), and was on target again on Sunday against Eibar, where Bale also got his name on the scoresheet.

However, Madrid press were still left unimpressed with Benitez, with both AS and Marca describing in their post Eibar-Madrid match report as a hard earned victory, full of struggle but little imagination. For God’s sake, give him a break, will you?

Griezmann scores again!

Atletico are defensively such a well drilled team that they’re capable of churning out narrow margin victories on a regular basis. You won’t see them scoring 3-4 goals on a regular basis, rather they are expert in grinding out results.

For instance, they’ve scored only eight goals in all competitions in their last seven matches, winning five of them out of which three games were decided with the scoreline 1-0. Antoine Griezmann is once again enjoying a great season for Atletico. The French forward has scored 11 goals in all competitions so far, and was on target against Espanyol over the weekend.

Nuno leaves Valencia – what next for Los Che?

After four defeats and four draws in the opening 13 games, Nuno Espirito Santo, the manager who guided Valencia to top four finish last season, has resigned from the post.

“I spoke with the President and board before the game, but the players didn’t know [my decision until now]. I’m an employee and I’d like to thank everyone,’ he said after the game. “It’s important that the Valencia fans stick together. Managing Valencia has been an honour.”

Valencia invested a lot of money in buying talented players in the summer, but the huge outlay did not translate into success on the pitch, with Los Che dropping to eight in the league and facing an early elimination from the Champions League as well.

Aduriz hat-trick, deserves Spain call up

Spain boss Vicente del Bosque has surprisingly kept his confidence on misfiring Diego Costa while other top Spanish strikers in the league are being neglected. The Chelsea striker has scored only four goals all season, and has come under criticism from Jose Mourinho and the fans for his non-professional behaviour at times.

It is indeed baffling why Del Bosque continues to ignore other top strikers in La Liga. One such example is Aritz Aduriz, who has scored 20 goals in all competitions so far, five goals in last two matches, including a hat-trick against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday. Despite being 34 years of age, Aduriz deserves a recall to the Spain national team.

Premier League predictions: can Manchester United and Arsenal get their title challenge back on track? - originally posted on Soccerlens.com

This weekend’s Premier League action will see some crucial fixtures at both ends of the table take place, with invaluable points on offer for those looking to put forward a title challenge or to stay in the division.

After 14 games of the new campaign, the table is starting to take shape.

While keeping tabs on the domestic action this weekend, why not enter a free competition that could well see you win a Lamborghini supercar?

readies.co.uk are running a no obligation competition that will see one lucky winner scoop this awesome prize – just by predicting the scores of this weekend’s Premier League games.

When making your choices, bear the following information in mind:

Man United vs West Ham

In days gone by, this clash at Old Trafford may well have been a foregone conclusion – but no longer.

United are not the same potent attacking force as they once were and have struggled for goals in recent weeks under Louis van Gaal.

Wayne RooneyThe Hammers meanwhile, despite recent defeats on the road, have a good away record and have claimed the scalps of Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City this term already.

United need three points if they are to maintain their title challenge, while West Ham are determined to have a progressive campaign ahead of their move to the Olympic Stadium.

Prediction: Man Utd 1 West Ham 0

Arsenal vs Sunderland

Arsenal are another title hopeful that have dropped points in recent weeks, with a defeat to West Brom being followed by a frustrating draw against Norwich last time out.

Sunderland are firmly at the other end of the table but have seen their fortunes improve markedly since the arrival of new manager Sam Allardyce.

The Black Cats have won their last two games, including an impressive victory away to high-flying Crystal Palace, with their players full of belief once more.

The Gunners are likely to be without talisman Alexis Sanchez, who has been added to their ever-growing injury list, and as such this could well be a close game.

Prediction: Arsenal 2 Sunderland 1

Newcastle vs Liverpool

Steve McClaren’s Newcastle side are staring down the barrel of a relegation battle, with a 5-1 thumping at Selhurst Park last Saturday adding to their misery.

steve-mcclaren_3336330bIf the Tyneside outfit are to spearhead an unlikely recovery, improving the side’s form at St James’ Park is a pre-requisite.

Liverpool are seemingly buying into Jurgen Klopp’s thinking, with a solid defensive effort and positive results since the German trainer took over at Anfield.

Despite three invaluable points being on offer here, it may well be that each side has to make do with a point.

Prediction: Newcastle 0 Liverpool 0

Transfer roundup: Arsenal identify midfield star addition, Tottenham want new Thierry Henry? - originally posted on Soccerlens.com

After a compelling round of Premier League fixtures over the weekend, the transfer mill starts again today with a number of possible deals touted.

Arsenal’s midfield woes have seen them consider a number of new additions, but the Gunners have reportedly decided on a young star to add to their ranks.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are being linked with a man labelled the new Thierry Henry and Merseyside rivals Liverpool and Everton have been mentioned as suitors of a Real Madrid winger.

Arsenal scouting Ruben Neves ahead of January move

Metro have today claimed that Arsenal scouts have been watching Porto’s young midfield prodigy Ruben Neves in just about every game he has played this season ahead of a potential January move for the starlet.

Ruben NevesThe 18-year-old has been a sensation this season, breaking in the Estadio Do Dragao outfit’s first team and excelling both domestically and in the Champions League.

With Francis Coquelin injured and expected to be on the sidelines until the new year, Arsene Wenger is reported to be ready to add Neves to his squad in a bid to create more competition for places in the boiler room.

Tottenham chase Bordeaux’s Henri Saivet

The Mirror claim that Tottenham have been keeping a close eye on Bordeaux speedster Henri Saivet, with potential for a £3.5 million January deal.

Henri SaivetThe 25-year-old scored the opening goal in his side’s 2-1 defeat to Liverpool in the Europa League recently, with Spurs scouts in attendance to watch the tricky attacker.

Blessed with lightning pace, Saivet has been labelled as the new Thierry Henry in some corners and is thought to be available at a reasonable price come the new year.

Liverpool and Everton considering Cheryshev

Finally, Marca have listed Liverpool and Everton as suitors of Real Madrid winger Denis Cheryshev, who could well be set for a Santiago Bernabeu exit this January.

Denis CheryshevThe Russia international winger has been on the fringes of Rafa Benitez’s squad this season and is reportedly keen for a switch in the new year to boost his Euro 2016 hopes.

The Merseyside pair have both been mentioned as interested parties, but a host of other teams from across Spain and the continent are also believed to be keeping tabs on the situation.

Arsenal lose three key players through injury

Arsenal lose three key players through injury - originally posted on Soccerlens.com

Injury-hit Arsenal have lost three more key players during their 1-1 draw against Norwich City in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Gunners are already without several key players like Jack Wilshere, Theo Walcott, Danny Welbeck, Mikel Arteta, et al, and now it seems Alexis Sanchez, Santi Cazorla and Laurent Koscielny will join the long list too on sidelines.

Both Sanchez and Koscielny were were forced off during the game with what appeared to be serious injuries and it will further deplete the Gunners line-up that are now reduced to bare bones. Wenger has confirmed that Cazorla also suffered a knee injury during the match.

Arsenal missed a golden opportunity to level points with Manchester City at the top, as the Gunners only came away with a single point against Norwich.

With Champions League qualification still hanging by a fine thread, injuries to Sanchez , Cazorla and Koscielny would serve a huge psychological blow to the Gunners.

Wenger confirmed that Sanchez had a hamstring problem before the game and yet he risked him against Norwich – a decision that completely backfired.

While Sanchez is expected to miss at least 2-3 weeks, Wenger is hopeful about Koscielny and Cazorla, both are expected to return within next week.
