Agent comments on Manchester United target's future, no official offer yet - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
Jorge Mendes, Jose Mourinho’s agent, has said that Manchester United have not made any official offer to the former Chelsea manager to take over at Old Trafford.
Mourinho said recently that he doesn’t intend to take a break from football, rather he is keen to get back into management quickly.
English media speculated that Manchester United are planning to appoint Mourinho as their next manager. The results have been disappointing in recent months under Louis van Gaal, and several senior players and the supporters are left frustrated with the boring football deployed by the manager.
Mendes, however, has quashed such rumours saying there has not been any agreement with Manchester United at the moment.
He told Globoesporte, via Sky Sports: “There is nothing. We don’t know what will happen in the future, but now there is no agreement. There isn’t an official proposal either, that’s not true.”
Following United’s home defeat against Norwich last Saturday – their sixth consecutive game without a win in all competitions – the Red Devils have dropped out of top four in the Barclays Premier League table.
Van Gaal himself has insisted that his job will come under threat if the results do not improve at the earliest.
United hierarchies were thought to have held a meeting on Tuesday in London but reports suggest Van Gaal’s future wasn’t discussed in the gathering and commercial matters were top of the agenda.
