Arsenal's £130,000-a-week star out till mid January confirms Wenger - originally posted on Soccerlens.com

Arsenal will be without Alex Sanchez for another three weeks, Arsene Wenger confirmed after Monday’s 2-1 win over Manchester City.

The victory has put the Gunners second in the Premier League table, two points behind Leicester City and are one of the favourites to lift the title.

Arsenal have been hit by so many injuries this season, losing several key players at various stages of the season, but losing Sanchez will serve as a huge blow.

Sanchez, who earns a reported wage of £130,000-a-week, suffered a hamstring injury in November, and recently returned to training but he was left out of the squad at the Emirates on Monday night.

Wenger revealed after the game:

“Sanchez will be back around January 10. We can’t count on him around the Christmas period. He’s had a very slight setback.”

“It was planned for him to be on the bench for City. He’s so keen, but he got a little pain in training two days ago and we haven’t taken a gamble.”

Can Arsenal win the Premier League title is the hot topic that is doing the rounds in the social media. Beating Manchester City 2-1 with a depleted squad delivers a strong statement that Arsenal are firm favourites for the Premiership title.

Sanchez will miss Premier League games against Southampton, Bournemouth and Newcastle, as well as the FA Cup clash with Sunderland.

Danny Welbeck is set to return to the first team shortly. He claims that he is recovering “pretty well” and is eager to get on the pitch after spending the majority of the season on the sidelines.
